Before Reading
The mentor gets an update on how the student has been doing that day/week and introduces the focus of the lesson.

During reading
The mentor reads with the student, asks prompting questions, and completes the writing activity.

After Reading
The mentor reviews the lesson takeaways with the student and completes the mentor log.
